The City of Sheffield Diving Club was established in the early 1980’s at its former home ‘Sheaf Valley Baths’, officially opened in November 1972. The Club relocated to Ponds Forge Sports Centre which was opened in 1991 on the site where it replaced the Sheaf Valley pool. Ponds Forge hosts regional, national and international diving competitions and camps and is extremely proud to have hosted a leg of the FINA Diving World Series in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011. The training environment includes the biggest 10 metre venue in Britain, two dry-diving areas with an air track and a unique tailor-made diving trampoline. The diving pool has the only 1 metre overhead wet harness in the Great Britain. The club has partnerships with Sheffield Hallam University, Absolute Nutrition, BackActive Chiropractic Clinic and Holywell Health.
Our mission statement is ‘To produce elite divers and ensure that all members are nurtured to their full potential’
The Club is run by a dedicated committee of parents and volunteers and is strongly supported in it’s activities by parents throughout the club. Sheffield Diving runs the Sheffield Santa Skills novice event and its own Club Championships annually along with hosting various regional and national events.
Sheffield Diving is nationally recognised by British Diving and Swim England as the only Home Country Development Centre (HCDC) in England and a Talent Development Centre (TDC). The club is 1 of only 4 to be awarded TDC status. The Club is registered to the National Governing Body, Swim England, and is managed by a small committee of volunteers voted in at an Annual General Meeting each year. Swim England has awarded the club with its SwimMark accreditation for the ninth year running. SwimMark is the national ‘Quality Mark’ for diving clubs, recognising that the club is committed to providing a safe and quality service.
The Coaching Team is passionate about diving and committed to our goal of producing world class diving MADE IN SHEFFIELD!
