For the consecutive year, Sheffield Diving, won the team trophy at the annual GStar Diving Competition in Leeds. The final medal count for the weekend was 18, 6 golds, 10 silvers and 2 bronzes. Maisie Bond, along with her 3 gold medals, she was the proud winner of the Gavin Brown Trophy. The Gavin Brown Trophy is awarded to the standout performer of the competition. Maisie’s dominance was highlighted in all her performances, qualifying for the final on 3m 81.4 points ahead of her closest rival. Theo Wellington performed consistently well over the weekend, securing 3 medals, 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. Group C girls, Jenna Davison finished off her Junior Elite preparation with a gold and a silver. In the Boys C, Harrison and Jack both secured all 3 finals. Harrison’s new dive 107c (7.5m) was his best dive of the meet, scoring 7’s. Jack found consistency in each final, and did 9 dives without dropping a dive. Sheffield Diving’s Group B Boys dominated their age category by securing 4 places out of 6 on both 1m and platform. Amelia Scott finished her weekend off with a high, competing in Girls B 1m and 3m, claiming 2 silver medals. Jessica Vega, Group A Girls, narrowly missed out on the medals. Jess dived confidently and placed 4th 5 points outside the medals. Yasmin Harper led the medal tally for the girls, placing 2nd in her 3m event. Jack and Ross Haslam finished off their Commonwealth Games preparation with 2 medals each with a bonus of both beating the Olympic Champion, Jack Laugher.
