Welcome to the Official City of Sheffield Diving Club website. This website has important information for divers in the City of Sheffield Diving Club and members of the Sheffield City Council Diving Programme.

The City of Sheffield Diving Club’s home is the world famous Ponds Forge International Sports Centre. Our aims are aligned with the British Diving Mission Statement:

2010 WORLD DIVING SERIES

The FINA World Diving Series is coming to Ponds Forge, Sheffield for the fourth consecutive year on the 23rd & 24th of April. The event hosts the worlds top eight divers who compete for prize money live on television. The competition is a unique opportunity to watch the world's best divers, including Commonwealth, World and Olympic champions in action. Tom Daley will be competing in the Men’s platform event. Sheffield’s own Megan Sylvester and Monique Gladding will compete in the Women’s 10 metre synchronised platform event and Nick Robinson-Baker in the Men’s 3 metre event. British Swimming is allocating a 25% discount on ticket prices to Diving Clubs for every 20 people that purchase a ticket. The discount is available to Club parents, divers, volunteers, coaches, committee members and family members. In order to obtain the 25% discount the City of Sheffield Diving Club must collect in orders and payment for all tickets and then make one single payment. The deadline for booking tickets with the Club is Friday 16th of April. World Water Bombing Display

The City of Sheffield Diving Club will perform a diving display as part of the 6th annual World Water Bombing Championships on Wednesday 28th April. The event raises funds for Macmillian Cancer Support to help families living with cancer. The display will take place at 18.45 - 19.00pm. All divers will be able to leave straight after the diving display has finished at 7pm.

All diving squads are invited to take part in the display. Please add your name to the list on the diving notice board if you CAN take part in the show. This will enable the coaches to plan the display effectively.

Aquatic Sports Photo Exhibition

Ponds Forge will host an Aquatic Sports Photo Exhibition at Ponds Forge at the end of March 2010. The exhibition will feature images of British swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming athletes taken by sports photographer Simon Wright. Simon has done several photo shoots of City of Sheffield divers. Find out more information at:

A big thank you to all the divers and parents that helped out on the practical sessions for the Level 2 diving teachers course in February half term.

NER Leg 2

A team of 28 sheffield divers visited Harrogate to take part in the second leg of the North East Region Grand Prix (incorporating the ASA Yorkshire Championships) on Sunday 28th March. The team won a total of 11 Yorkshire medals, including 4 golds. Jade Semper, Max Fletcher, Hayden Liggins and Fern Hitchen each won gold to become the 2010 Yorkshire Champions. Silver medals went to Millie Fowler and Ashton Hall. Bronze medals were won by Sam Hydes, Hannah Talbot, Brad Linley, Elliot Richards and Bron Jenkinson. New Aquatics Website

www.swimming.org is the new website for everything you need to know about the aquatic disciplines. From the website you can access the new British Swimming page to find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Disability Swimming.

Fundraising - Upcoming Bag Packing Dates

The Club is organising 2 bag packing dates to raise Club funds. Look out for a booking in sheet on the notice board soon.
Saturday 10th April @ ASDA, Chapeltown 10-2pm (Age 11+ only)
Saturday 24th April @ Morrisons, Hillsbourgh (No age restriction)

Sainsbury's Active Kids vouchers

The Club is collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers from the 17th February to the 8th June 2010. The vouchers can be donated to the Club to redeem for sports equipment and resources. More information on how to earn the vouchers is on the notice board or is available to download from the downloads section on the left of this page. Please help the City of Sheffield Diving Club take advantage of this opportunity by collecting the vouchers and donating them to the Club. There will be 3 prizes for the people that collect the most vouchers. Vouchers can be posted in the Club post box in an envelope marked with the divers name on or can be handed in to a Parent Rep in June. NER Grand Prix

The results from the 2010 North East Regional Grand Prix Leg 1 can be found in the Competitions section of this site.

The Entry Pack and Entry form for Leg 2 is available to download from the menu on the left. A reminder that the closing date for that event is Saturday 13 February. A late entry fee of £5.00 will be charged for entries received after this date.

Ponds Forge International Sports Centre is home to members of the British Diving Team, however lessons are available for people of all levels and abilities.
