About Us
The City of Sheffield Diving Club was established in the early 1980’s at its former home ‘Sheaf Valley Baths’, officially opened in November 1972.
In 1991, the Club relocated to Ponds Forge Sports International Centre which opened on the site where Sheaf Valley pool stood.
Ponds Forge hosts regional, national and international diving competitions and camps and is extremely proud to have hosted a leg of the FINA International Diving World Series in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011.
The training environment is one of the biggest 10 metre venues in Britain, with two dry-diving areas, an air track and a unique tailor-made diving trampoline. The diving pool has the only 1 metre overhead wet harness in the Great Britain and the most amount of diving springboards in the UK.
To produce elite divers and ensure that all members are nurtured to their full potential
ˮ
ˮ
To help achieve this, we have developed long standing partnerships with Sheffield Hallam University, Absolute Nutrition, Back Active Chiropractic Clinic and Holywell Health. Sheffield Diving runs the Sheffield Santa Skills novice event and its own Club Championships annually along with hosting various regional and national events. The Club is registered to the National Governing Body, Swim England and is managed by a dedicated committee of volunteers, voted in at an Annual General Meeting each year.
The Coaching Team is passionate about diving and committed to our goal of producing world class diving which is:
MADE IN SHEFFIELD!
Mission Statement
SwimMark is the national ‘Quality Mark’ for diving clubs, recognising that the club is committed to providing a safe and quality service. Swim England has awarded COSDC with the National ‘SwimMark’ accreditation annually since 2009 and in 2016 Sheffield Diving was the first diving club in the UK to be awarded SwimMark at ‘Performance’ level.
In 2017 Swim England awarded
the Club ‘Aquatics Club of the Year’.
Fundraising
The club undertakes a variety of fundraising activities to raise funds for competitions, equipment and coaching. Activities include organising fundraising stalls at competitions, raffles and bag packing sessions at local supermarkets.
The club welcomes sponsorship, raffle prizes, donations, or any form of support from businesses no matter how small and ideas and help with fundraising events are warmly welcomed. If you can help or know someone who can assist in this area, please contact the Club’s Fundraising Officer (see our Committee page).
If you shop online please visit easyfundraising and register Sheffield Diving Club as your cause - https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/sheffielddc/. Through clicking on the easyfundraising website and then onto the shopping website you wish to make a purchase from, this tells the website you came from easyfundraising and the company then gives a small donation to the club. The item price is exactly the same and it does not add any cost to the buyer.
Club LOTTO Bingo!
The Sheffield Diving Committee set up the weekly Lotto Bingo draw in 2017, whereby you win CASH whilst also contributing to the clubs equipment fundraising efforts. ALL funds raised through the Lotto goes towards purchasing new equipment for our divers. Since starting the lotto, thousands of pounds have been won and it’s not just open to club members! Invite your friends and family members to take part (over 18’s only).
It costs £1 a week for 1 line and we already have 80 members, raising £20 a week into the club equipment fund.
To join please email Lyndsey Hancox at slushpot@aol.com for details.
